ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST : 2 Edison Workers Rescued After Night in Canyon
Two Southern California Edison contract workers were rescued and a third man walked to safety Tuesday morning after being stranded overnight in a canyon area of the Angeles National Forest.
No one was injured, although all three men spent Monday night in Suicide Canyon without food or water, said Sheriff’s Deputy Don Wyman.
Rialto residents Jairo Corujedo , 18, and Saul Bermudez, 18, were flown to safety by helicopter. Corujedo was stranded on a 150-foot cliff and Bermudez was spotted walking along a trail, Wyman said.
Martin Martinez, 24, of Anaheim, hiked down a cliff, crossed a 20-foot-wide stream and walked about a mile to a fire station near Big Tujunga Canyon Road.
All three were working for Landscape West, an Anaheim company contracted by Edison to clear brush and debris around power poles from Mt. Lukens down to Big Tujunga Canyon.
