Pierce’s Pack Signs Pact With Mets
Steve Pack, a right-handed pitcher at Pierce College, signed a professional contract with the New York Mets on Tuesday.
Pack, a freshman, was 4-2 with a 4.26 earned-run average in Western State Conference play this season.
“It was a tough decision leaving Pierce, but I feel like I’m ready to go into pro ball,” Pack said.
Pack was drafted out of Fallbrook High by the Mets last June but did not sign. The Mets had until the June amateur draft to sign Pack or lose the rights.
