Mortgage Delinquencies Remain Low: The percentage of delinquent mortgages in the nation remained near an 18-year low in the first quarter, held down in every region by moderate economic growth and loan refinancing, a trade group said. A survey by the Mortgage Bankers of America showed that the delinquency rate inched up to a seasonally adjusted 4.29% from 4.25% in the October-December period. That fourth-quarter rate was the lowest since 4.22% in the final quarter of 1974.
