Big Crimes, Little Crimes: All Are Wrong

Share

In his article “America’s Least Wanted Criminals,” Craig Tomashoff asks, “But can you really trust anyone who doesn’t commit the occasional small crime?” I would say, can you really trust anyone who rationalizes that it is OK to commit the sneaky little thefts he describes?

Tomashoff assumes that because some misguided people he knows about are dishonest, therefore everyone is dishonest. Speak for yourself, Craig. But don’t try to imply that it’s OK because everyone does it.

The truth is: 1) it isn’t OK, and 2) everyone doesn’t do it. If everyone did it, our civilized society, which is based on the assumption that most of the people are honest and can be trusted, would break down.
