From science and math to the arts and technology, the Capistrano Unified School District will offer a variety of school programs this summer for youths of all ages.

Among the most popular of the summer offerings are the Summer Academy of Mathematics and Science, and the Summer Science Institute, offered in partnership with UCI.

The Summer Science Institute, which allows students to assist scientists in hands-on experiments, will be offered at Del Obispo Elementary in San Juan Capistrano for students in grades one through six.

Each of the seven elementary summer schools will also be offering theme programs. They are “Creativity--the Magic in Everyone,” Benedict Elementary; “Heroes and Heroines, Near and Far,” R.H. Dana; “Class Act: Creativity Learning + Artistic Sharing = Success” Bergeson Elementary; “Passport to the World,” Del Obispo; “Young Entrepreneurs,” Newhart; “I Did the ‘Write’ Thing,” Reilly School; and the Summer Institute of the Arts and Technology, San Juan Elementary.

Middle and high school students can also take regular course offerings at several campuses for enrichment or to make up failing grades.

Brochures on the offerings are also available at any school in the district, but registration is by mail only. Space is limited on all programs.
