Arms Maker to Build Luxury Cars: China’s largest arms manufacturer signed a $65-million contract with German and Hong Kong companies to produce luxury cars, an official newspaper said. Beijing North Vehicle Works, a subsidiary of China North Industries Corp., is to begin building 1,500 of the cars this year, using technology from Neoplan Co. of Germany and cash from Hong Kong’s Yuehai Group, the China Daily said. Also, China North and Suzuki Motor Corp. of Japan plan a joint venture building passenger cars in China.
