Poll Shows Support for Clinton Down in Japan
As President Clinton’s support ratings plummet at home, his popularity is also on the wane in Japan, according to a poll released Monday.
A month before Clinton is to visit Japan, Nippon Research Center Ltd. said 44% of respondents to a nationwide survey said they were favorably impressed with Clinton, down from 62% in February.
Fifty-one percent said they were not favorably impressed, compared to only 34% in February, reported the center, which is affiliated with Gallup International.
Clinton will be in Japan for the summit of the seven leading industrialized democracies July 7-9.
