Norman Hirschfield; Oklahoma Official

Norman Hirschfield, former Oklahoma state official and co-founder of Hirschfield Scott Associates management consultants in Beverly Hills, has died. He was 83.

Hirschfield died Saturday in Beverly Hills after a short illness.

A native of Manhattan who was educated at Columbia University, Hirschfield began his career as an investment banker in New York and spent his retirement years on the West Coast.

But he spent most of his adult life in Oklahoma City, where he served in the mid-1950s as chairman of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. He was president and chairman of Consolidated Gas Utilities of Oklahoma and later chairman of Teleregister Corp. From 1954 to 1960, he was chairman of Detroit-based Allied Supermarkets.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia, a daughter, E.J., a son, Alan, and six grandchildren.
