Budget Gap and Worker Salaries

Share

Now it is time to dispel the overriding logic of the Glendale City Council, city staff members and business community for the immediate-term and long-term interests, prosperity and happiness of the majority of voting citizens of Glendale. Here are fair and simple answers to the city’s government and business crises:

Tax the predominantly non-Glendale work force with a payroll tax, income tax or some type of levy before the City Council raises and/or dares to create a new tax (fee, permit, surcharge) burden on the overtaxed people of Glendale. It is time to spread the burden to all who enjoy our governmental services.

Glendale needs to freeze city government workers’ salaries and benefits for the next five years. If Beverly Hills has frozen its government workers’ salaries for the past three years, then our city needs to do it with speed.

It is fiscally responsible to give them a 20% pay cut; millions of well-educated, better-work-sense, dynamic Americans have been impoverished for 20 years as present workers have become fat cats with yearly salaries of $30,000 to more than $100,000.

Workers need to give up some of their income and job hours to employ more Americans.
