Amanda Basica of Lomita and Janet Lee of Rancho Palos Verdes won a first-round girls’ doubles match Wednesday at Wimbledon.

Basica and Lee teamed for a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Tina Croson and Sara Tse of Britain.

Lee lost to Sung-Hee Park of South Korea, 6-3, 6-2, in a singles match earlier in the day. Lee was the last remaining American in the girls’ singles draw.

On Tuesday, Lee advanced at Basica’s expense, defeating her doubles partner, 6-3, 6-2. Basica, 15, had been hoping to equal or surpass her performance at last month’s French Open, where she reached the finals of the girls’ division.

Lindsay Davenport and Kimberly Po played their final matches of the tournament Monday. Davenport and Scott Davis of Newport Beach were eliminated by top-seeded Todd Woodbridge and Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, 6-2, 6-3, in a second-round mixed doubles match. Po, a Rolling Hills resident, and Rikard Bergh of Sweden lost to Australians Sandon Stolle and Rennae Stubbs, 6-3, 6-4.

Davenport’s first Wimbledon as a professional proved to be a profitable experience, earning her $21,265.50 for reaching the third round of singles and second round in doubles and mixed doubles. The 17-year-old former Chadwick High student has now earned $90,533.50 since turning professional in February. She forfeited another $19,100 in earnings earlier this year before turning professional.

Davenport and Po will play at the Forum on Wednesday--Po as a member of the Strings and Davenport the Sacramento Capitals--in the World TeamTennis opener for both teams.
