THE WINE LIST

Good news: At Rox, the prices on the wine list are fair, the selection is good, the glassware is elegant, and the service is excellent.

There were two clues that this was a good list: Of the two Sauvignon Blancs offered, each was in a different style and both were priced well under $20. And 12 wines by the glass were listed atop the menu and included the attractive 1990 Trebbiano from Ivan Tamas at $5 a glass and the 1990 Villa Mt. Eden Cabernet Sauvignon, $5.50.

Stay away from 1991 Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, a bland offering that at $30 is about twice what it’s worth. Likewise the 1991 Gavi from La Giustiniana, $40, another overrated wine. (The list says it’s a Chardonnay. It is not.)
