AT&T; Announces Reception Improvement: The nation’s largest long-distance carrier said it has improved the sound quality of its long-distance network and the service, AT&T; TrueVoice, will be available to all customers at no additional charge beginning in September. Modifications to the network are expected to be completed by the end of 1994, it said. The technology--developed at Bell Laboratories, American Telephone & Telegraph Co.’s research unit--raises the overall sound level of a long-distance call. The advance reflects AT&T; strategy of pinning its stake in the battle for long-distance customers on service quality.
