Golf Course Is a Poor

Substitute for Open Space

* Bernard Harrington alleges (Letters, July 11) that since the Canyon Oaks development will include a golf course, “85% of the land will remain as open space.”

Since when has destroying an ecosystem and replacing it with alien bluegrass, holes, flags and sand traps equate to open space? Seems to me more like wasted space.

The last thing Los Angeles and the Valley need is more development. It will only lead to greater overpopulation, traffic and smog, thereby decreasing the quality of life for its current residents.

Some people won’t be satisfied until we’re all locked in like sardines, unable to breathe the air and sick from the water, and all the natural inhabitants are extinct.
