THOUSAND OAKS : Officials, Residents to Discuss General Plan

Share

Thousand Oaks officials will meet with residents at a public forum today to discuss long-range plans, including possible zoning changes, for the city’s undeveloped areas.

The forum is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the Goebel Senior Adult Center, 1385 Janss Road.

The city’s General Plan review committee, which includes Mayor Judy Lazar, Councilwoman Elois Zeanah and Planning Commission members Marilyn Carpenter and Irving Wasserman, will preside over the meeting.

During the past year, the committee has held four meetings on proposed changes in the General Plan, a blueprint for future development, said Larry Marquart, a senior planner.

The committee first divided up the city into four study areas that included Westlake Village, Newbury Park, North and Central Thousand Oaks and Thousand Oaks Boulevard, Marquart said. The panel then held meetings in each of the areas to receive public input about zoning, traffic, parks, signage, grading, hillside protection and other planning and development issues, he said.

At today’s meeting, the committee will present for review by the public overall findings and conclusions based on input received during the previous meetings.

The recommended General Plan revisions will probably be presented to the City Council in the fall for its consideration, Marquart said.
