Hughes Wins Saudi Air Traffic Pact
FULLERTON — The Saudi Arabian government has awarded Hughes Aircraft Co. what company officials would only describe as “a multimillion-dollar” contract to upgrade the air traffic control system for the area surrounding the western coastal city of Jidda on the Red Sea--which separates Saudi Arabia from Egypt.
Hughes’ Fullerton operations will supply computer equipment and software for the project, which is scheduled to be completed late next year. A spokesman said the contract is “a small one” and is not expected to affect employment at the Orange County facility.
