Charges Likely in Hollywood Madam Case, Attorney Says
The lawyer for alleged madam to the stars Heidi Fleiss said Monday that he expects charges to be filed against her by next week.
However, officials at the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office declined to confirm the statement or comment on the case.
Fleiss, the daughter of a prominent Los Feliz pediatrician, was arrested June 9 by a multi-agency law enforcement task force and booked on felony pimping, pandering and narcotics charges. Free on $100,000 bond, she has been ordered to appear in court Monday, when the district attorney is expected to announce whether charges will be filed.
Her lawyer, Anthony Brooklier, said Monday that he has discussed the case with Deputy Dist. Atty. Alan Carter “and my expectation is that there will be charges.”
Brooklier, who otherwise declined comment, added that Fleiss has been deluged with media requests and book and screenplay offers since a Los Angeles Times story outlined the furor over her case, which has ignited rumors that the names of her clients might be revealed in court.
