Dumais Repeats as Three-Meter Diving Champion
Troy Dumais of Ventura successfully defended his 1992 three-meter diving title in the Speedo National Junior Olympic Championships at the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center in Pasadena Thursday.
Dumais, 13, a six-time U.S. Junior Olympic champion, won the boys’ 13-and-under springboard event by 38.20 points over Clayton Moss, 12, of Doerun, Ga. Dumais scored 370.75, Moss 332.55.
Dumais wasn’t the only repeat winner. Michelle Davison, 13, of Columbia, S.C., took the girls’ 13-and-under one-meter springboard title. Both qualified for the FINA World Age Group Diving Championships Aug. 18-22 in London.
Brice Dumais, Troy’s brother and another member of the Rose Bowl Aquatics team, was sixth. Justin Dumais, a third brother, placed sixth in the boys’ 14-15 three-meter springboard preliminaries.
