NAFTA Talks Extended Through Weekend: U.S., Mexican and Canadian ministers embarked on a marathon session in a bid to remove stumbling blocks on the road to a North American Free Trade Agreement. U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor, Canada’s Trade Minister Thomas Hockin and Mexico’s Trade Minister Jaime Serra Puche, meeting in Washington since Wednesday, announced that they will continue their closed-door deliberations through the weekend. The Clinton Administration wants assurances that labor rights and the environment will be preserved in Mexico under NAFTA.
