Earl C. Bolton; Former UC Vice President, USC Administrator
Earl C. Bolton, 73, former UC vice president and USC administrator. A native of Los Angeles educated at USC, Bolton was a retired Navy captain who served during World War II and was recalled to duty during the Korean War. He held teaching and administrative positions at USC from 1946 to 1960, when he moved to Berkeley as special assistant to the systemwide UC president. He became vice president the next year and remained until 1969. He later worked as a management consultant in Chicago and a lawyer in Los Angeles. On Tuesday in Alameda, after a stroke.
