Acton Man Pleads Not Guilty to Charges of Making Guns

An Acton man accused of manufacturing machine guns and other illegal weapons pleaded not guilty Monday and was allowed to remain free on bond while awaiting trial.
According to a federal grand jury indictment handed down last month, Christopher James Berwick, 49, made parts to convert legal guns into machine guns and also manufactured illegal silencers. He allegedly turned those weapons over to Christian Gilbert Tony Nadal and his wife, Doris Nadal, of North Hills, who are accused of selling them to an undercover FBI agent.
The Nadals and Berwick were indicted after an 18-month federal investigation into white supremacist groups in Southern California. They are scheduled to go to trial in September. Berwick and Doris Nadal are free on $25,000 bond each while the family of Christian Nadal is trying to amass enough property for him to post a $250,000 bond.
