WESTMINSTER : Schools Personnel Panel Has Opening

Share

The Westminster School District is seeking applicants for a seat on its personnel commission.

The three-member commission sets salaries for non-teaching jobs, oversees promotions and hears appeals to disciplinary actions.

The commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month.

The three-year term begins Dec. 1.

Candidates must be registered to vote, live within district boundaries and be familiar with the merit system of employment and promotion. They may not be members of any district or county board of education or employees of the Westminster district, spokeswoman Audrey Brown said.

Desirable qualifications include volunteer or paid experience with community groups or public agencies, familiarity with law-labor relations and ability to work with administrators and employee groups, Brown said.

Applications are available at the classified personnel office, 14121 Cedarwood Ave., and must be filed by Sept. 1.

Brown said that the most qualified applicants will be interviewed by the school board. Following a public hearing on Oct. 7, the board will forward its recommendation to the state superintendent of public instruction.
