World IN BRIEF : SOMALIA : U.N. Leader Urges Expansion of Force

The U.N. peacekeeping force in Somalia, 20,700 strong and soon to number about 28,000, still needs another brigade, or about 3,000 troops, U.N. Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali said. The U.N. mission is now made up of units from 28 countries. The U.N. force has battled armed factions in recent clashes.
