NATION IN BRIEF : TEXAS : Man Who Killed 2 in Robbery Is Executed

A convicted killer who called himself “an African warrior . . . born to die” was executed in Huntsville, Tex., for a $30 convenience store robbery in which two people were murdered. Carl Kelly became the fourth Texas inmate to be executed in four weeks, the 11th this year and the 65th since Texas resumed executions in 1982. He was convicted of killing Steven Pryor, a clerk at a Waco 7-Eleven store. David Riley, a transient from Illinois asleep in Pryor’s car outside the store, also was slain.
