High school juniors and seniors who hold elective offices on their campuses can apply for a $2,000 scholarship and a trip to Washington for an “insider’s view” of government, state officials announced.
Interested students can receive applications from their school districts, and each high school can nominate one person. The deadline to submit the nominee to the California Department of Education is Oct. 15. Two delegates and two alternates will be selected by acting Supt. of Public Instruction William D. Dawson.
Two students from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia and the Department of Defense Overseas Dependent Schools will spend Jan. 29 to Feb. 5, 1994, in the nation’s capital as part of the United States Senate Youth Program, established in 1962.
