McGaw, ICU Sign Deal: McGaw Inc. said Wednesday it had signed an agreement with ICU Medical Inc. to distribute a device used to connect intravenous systems.

ICU’s devices do not require a needle to connect a fresh bag of IV solution to the tube that runs to the needle in the patient’s arm. That means nurses don’t risk sticking themselves with a needle when they connect a new bag of IV solution to the patient’s tube. Before, a needle had to be stuck into the tube to make sure the new solution was flowing.

ICU, based in Irvine, is a leading maker of these types of connectors.

McGaw, also in Irvine, supplies IV products to hospitals.
