San Marino : Homes OKd on Burnt Estate
The City Council earlier this month approved building six homes on the former Morganthaler estate, destroyed by fire in 1992.
San Marino Development Inc. will subdivide the 82,000-square-foot property at 1730 West Drive into lots ranging between 13,227 and 15,136 square feet.
The Morganthaler home caught fire in November and December, 1992. Arson was suspected but no arrests were made. In May, 1992, the estate was sold to San Marino Development for $2.9 million.
The house had fallen into disrepair and has been vacant since 1990.
