COOS BAY, Ore. — A woman drew nearly 5 1/2 years in prison for trying to kill her husband with a tire iron as he watched the sun set over the Pacific Ocean on their honeymoon.
Frannie H. Snite, 40, of Greenville, S.C., was convicted of attempted murder for clubbing 41-year-old Hayes Patterson in what prosecutors said was a bid to collect $1.2 million in life insurance. She was sentenced on Tuesday.
Patterson was struck several times in the head and knocked unconscious on June 23. He suffered broken fingers while trying to fend off the blows. He said he was unable to identify his attacker.
