Litton Faces Indictment: The Justice Department has threatened the action against the company in connection with the government’s long-running “Ill Wind” defense fraud probe unless Litton agrees to plead guilty and pay civil and criminal fines of $5 million. Litton officials would acknowledge only that they have held discussions with the Justice Department on the case. Two Litton executives, Thomas McAusland and Christopher Pafort, were convicted in 1991 of obtaining and using sensitive government information. The two are serving one-year jail sentences.
