Indian Hospital Opening Delayed by Lack of Phones

PINE RIDGE, S.D. —
A new Indian Health Service hospital was set to open in November, until officials discovered that someone forgot to include a telephone system in the $20-million building. The hospital’s grand opening will be delayed three months while competitive bids are taken, a contract is awarded and phones are installed, officials said.
