CYPRESS : McDonald’s Gets OK to Install ‘Playland’

Share

A children’s “playland” consisting of slides and mazes will soon be built at the McDonald’s restaurant on Valley View Street.

The City Council this week unanimously agreed to give McDonald’s the go-ahead for the addition though it will force the fast-food restaurant to decrease parking. Six parking spaces will be lost but officials said that since the restaurant is on the edge of a shopping center at Ball Road and Valley View Street, there’s plenty of parking nearby.

“People can park by the Mervyn’s or the other stores in that shopping center,” Mayor Gail H. Kerry said.

McDonald’s officials said the playland will attract visitors from surrounding cities and boost the restaurant’s and city’s revenues.

The proposed 1,000-square-foot play area will have a few slides encased in giant inner-tubes and a Pin Wheel Maze, a netted enclosure where children jump on plastic balls.
