POMONA : Brother’s Killer Sent to State Mental Hospital

Share

A 25-year-old Pomona gardener who pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder in the decapitation of his brother was ordered Friday to be sent to Patton State Mental Hospital in San Bernardino County.

Charles Bowshier pleaded guilty Aug. 13 to bludgeoning and decapitating Donald Bowshier, 29, with pruning shears during a Feb. 5 argument in the family home. Bowshier, who was captured by police after fleeing the murder scene, told them the person he killed was not his brother.

Psychiatrists said Bowshier, who suffered from delusions exacerbated by chronic drug use, was insane at the time of the murder.
