BURBANK : Roving Location for Youth Club Planned

Share

Lacking the money for a building, the new Boys and Girls Club of Burbank will stage a series of open air programs for youth that will move to different sites each month, according to club organizers.

“It’s just to sort of introduce ourselves and get around the city and get some momentum going for the program,” said Tim Murphy, a former city councilman and a vice president of the group.

The club needs about $60,000 to open a permanent facility and hire an executive director.

About half that amount has been raised.

The first “mobile recreation program” has been planned for the McKinley Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 23. School approval is pending.

Activities would include a variety of field games and be open to any child who arrives that day, Murphy said.
