Crew Cut Can Be Cool Style Too

Re: “Studies in Style” (Sept. 24): Student Casey Cunneen claims his dreadlocks are “no maintenance.”

Get out of here. You can’t tell me those things aren’t a pain to shampoo, not to mention the trouble to create them in the first place.

No, the deal is Cunneen is playing a part, a part he feels is cooler and deeper than he is. Little does he know he’d be just as cool and deep with a crew cut. Now that’s no maintenance.

“Studies in Style” depicts what styles of clothing are considered “cool” for students at our local universities. Two of the students are shown with cigarettes. Doesn’t that imply that smoking is cool? I thought we had gone beyond that.
