Monrovia : City Cuts Hours, Services

Share

City Hall and the Fire Department’s administrative office will close on Fridays beginning this week, and the Police Department is cutting the hours it is open to the public.

The new hours are part of a plan approved by the City Council in July to comply with air quality regulations that require cities to reduce the number of trips employees take, said Barry Foster, assistant to the city manager.

Employees this week began working four days a week for 10 hours, with Fridays off.

City Hall and the Fire Department administrative office will be open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The Police Department is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m.

The city’s community center and library hours will remain the same.

To reduce problems, a voice mail system has been installed so residents can leave messages 24 hours a day. The number is (818) 932-5555.
