Loss of Loved One

Share

* Re David Soibelman’s “If Ever Two Were One” (Commentary, Sept. 27), please extend my condolences, for after 50 years of happiness with a loving and caring wife, I now walk in his shoes. At first, losing her was unbearable, but time has tempered my feelings.

I now realize God gave me the gift of her for those years and he called her home at the right time. She was physically handicapped for the last year and was lost without my assistance. Calling me first would have left her helpless. He made me see his reasoning. Moreover, our separation is temporary. When I go, we will be one for eternity.
