Azusa : Quarry Dust to Be Studied
Local environmentalists last week persuaded the City Council to form a committee to assess possible health hazards posed by dust generated by the Azusa Rock quarry.
Representatives from the city, the quarry and a local environmental group, Save the Foothills, will review air quality studies on dust particles in the Azusa area.
Monday’s unanimous decision is the first time the council has backed the pleas of Save the Foothills to study dust generated by the quarry.
Last month the council voted to reject an appeal by Save the Foothills leader Jim McJunkin to close the quarry.
