79 Homes Started in County in August

Home-building activity in Ventura County during August was down from the previous month but showed an improvement over August, 1992. Builders started 79 single-family houses in August of this year versus 109 in July and 54 a year earlier, reports the Construction Industry Research Board.
Members of the Conejo Valley Assn. of Realtors sold 302 single-family houses in August, compared to 300 in July and 249 in August, 1992.
The median sales price for houses in the group’s area during August was $283,900, down from $286,700 a year earlier. The association’s members sell property in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Newbury Park.
