From Times Staff and Wire Reports

Former Interior Minister Arye Deri was indicted on fraud charges. A Justice Ministry spokeswoman said Deri, a member of the ultra-religious Shas party, was accused of fraud, taking bribes, falsifying documents and violating the public trust. Deri, 34, denies any wrongdoing. Deri resigned from the Cabinet last month but kept his seat in Parliament, which this week stripped him of his immunity against prosecution. Shas has all but formally dropped out of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin’s coalition.
