Venice : Shelter for Mothers Opens

Share

A shelter for up to 32 single mothers and their children opens today in the Oakwood section of Venice.

The 650 Westminster Transitional Living Center will provide needy families housing and counseling for up to two years to give mothers time to finish school or job training and then find permanent housing.

The center, which is on city land and uses two donated houses moved there, is the product of three years’ work by three Westside groups that aid the poor and homeless: HOPE, an organization set up by the Brentwood Presbyterian Church; the Venice Community Housing Corp. and the Low-Income and Elderly United Community Assistance Program.
