WAKE ME WHEN IT’S OVER: More than 60,000 San Fernando Valley residents leave for work between midnight and 6 a.m., according to the 1990 U. S. Census. More than 133,000 stagger out the door by 7. And enough to populate the entire city of Richmond, Va., hit the road between 7 and 8 a.m. . . . Still snoozing are the 33,097 who don’t leave until after 4 p.m. But the real ones to watch are the 22,502 who work out of their homes.

BLANKET COVERAGE: Encino B’nai B’rith donated more than 15,000 blankets to homeless and needy people across Los Angeles just in time for the first chilly fall nights. From its Chatsworth warehouse, the group donated blankets to community service organizations that regularly work with the region’s poor and homeless residents (B1). . . . “A blanket!” said recipient Paul Monroe. “That’s like giving somebody life!”

A ROOM WITH A VIEW: Frankie Marx had front row seats to the biggest show in Russia a few weeks ago--although she might have liked having some bulletproof glass between herself and the players (B2). . . . The Burbank resident was visiting Moscow just as violence broke out between rebellious Parliament members and the forces of President Boris N. Yeltsin--and she could see the tanks and sharpshooters from her window.

LATE BLOOMER: At age 88, Connie Feldmann is a different kind of Hollywood ingenue. The Canoga Park resident was plucked from a lineup at the Fallbrook Retirement Center by producers looking for a new character for a Little Caesar’s TV commercial (B5). . . . She will earn $400 every time the commercial airs and use the money to pay for her room at a retirement home. . . . Feldmann is glad for the attention and the money--but don’t expect to run into her at the local pizzeria. “I don’t even eat pizza,” Feldmann said.

Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho
