American Express Sues Visa Over Ads: The lawsuit alleges that a claim in Visa U.S.A. Inc. advertisements about a Colorado ski resort is false. The suit, filed in federal court in New York, claims that Visa’s Telluride ads state “falsely that consumers traveling to Telluride will not be able to use the American Express card anywhere at the ski resort.” The suit says that the operator of the resort’s ski concession, Telluride Ski Area Inc., stopped accepting the American Express card recently. American Express charges that the operator stopped taking the card because “Visa paid substantial promotional considerations, worth millions of dollars.” American Express seeks an order to stop the ads.
