A former handyman for missing candy heiress Helen Brach has given up a $50,000 share in her estate.

Jack Matlick agreed not to take the money provided for him in her will in exchange for the estate’s dropping a lawsuit against him. The lawsuit alleged that he wrongfully took $75,000 in cash and $15,000 in other assets about the time she disappeared in 1977.

Brach was reported missing by Matlick, who worked at her suburban Glenview home. Matlick, the last person known to have seen her, told police he drove her to the airport for a flight to Florida.

Brach has never been found. Matlick, once considered a suspect, has never been charged in connection with her disappearance.
