LOS ANGELES : Closer Scrutiny of Trips by City Officials OKd

Share

Travel by Los Angeles city officials will receive closer scrutiny under an ordinance approved Friday by the City Council. Foreign trips involving more than one city commissioner must be approved by the council and all travel that is paid for by the city will have to be justified in detailed reports.

The action follows a furor last spring over trips by several large contingents of commissioners who were about to leave office along with Mayor Tom Bradley. The new law replaces an even more stringent interim policy in which all foreign travel required City Council approval.
