Suspected Serial Killer of Widows Pleads Innocent

A man accused in the slayings of four elderly widows has entered a written not guilty plea to avoid a scheduled court appearance on 20 charges ranging from first-degree murder to burglary.

Edwin Bernard (Mike) Kaprat, a 29-year-old handyman, is charged with sexually attacking and killing the women, ages 72 through 87, after working at their houses. He was arrested Oct. 9.
