Oracle Corp. Alleges Design Theft Attempt: The company said an employee of Gain Technology Inc., a unit of Sybase Inc., was arrested at Oracle’s Redwood Shores, Calif., headquarters trying to smuggle out a disk drive containing Oracle database products for the Sun Sparc workstation platform. In a news release, Oracle said a police search of the man’s apartment turned up design documents, marketing plans, competitive analyses and the source code for Oracle’s Toolkit. Oracle said it believes Sybase is developing a similar product. Officials of Emeryville, Calif.-based Sybase were not immediately available to comment.
