ADL Lawsuit

Share

* There is a great deal more to the lawsuit filed by a collection of self-styled “civil rights” groups against the Anti-Defamation League than your story indicates (Oct. 22).

As one of the plaintiffs noted in the press conference announcing the lawsuit, mainstream human relations organizations were conspicuous by their unwillingness to take part in the suit. The likely reason for that: The plaintiffs’ political agenda is as transparent as the conspiracy theories outlined in the complaint are false. Such plaintiffs as the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the National Assn. of Arab Americans, the Palestine Solidarity Committee, et al., have long had axes to grind with the ADL.

ADL has closely worked with civil rights leaders, scholars and law enforcement officials as well as numerous Arab-American groups, and has provided assistance for the daily victims of prejudice who call on the ADL. For 80 years, the ADL has used every legal means available to expose and counteract all forms of anti-Semitism and bigotry.

The bizarre allegations that animate the lawsuit will not deter the ADL from continuing in its efforts.
