New U.S. Embassy Begun

KUWAIT CITY —
U.S. Ambassador Edward W. Gnehm Jr. drove a gilded shovel into the desert sand Monday to mark the start of construction of a new U.S. Embassy. It is being donated by Kuwait in gratitude for the U.S.-led military campaign that liberated Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in the 1991 Persian Gulf War.
