World IN BRIEF : PAKISTAN : Fire Burns Most of Parliament Building

A spectacular fire destroyed the heart of Pakistan’s Parliament building in Islamabad. The blaze burned for more than six hours as it consumed the National Assembly chamber, galleries and many offices in the six-story building, which was empty because of a holiday. State-run television said an electrical short circuit was believed to have caused the fire.
