SysteMed Pact Expands Network of Pharmacies

SysteMed Inc., the Laguna Hills prescription drug service company, said Thursday that it will start providing pharmaceutical services for more than 450,000 members of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia.

Under a new three-year contract that takes effect in March, SysteMed, through its wholly owned subsidiary INSURx Inc., will offer pharmacy networks and process claims for prescription drugs. The company will also begin a prescription drug mail-order service pharmacy program through its wholly owned subsidiary America’s Pharmacy Inc.

“This contract clearly demonstrates our commitment and ability to provide full-service drug benefit systems to assist our clients in the cost-effective management of their benefit dollars,” said Sam Westover, president of SysteMed.

SysteMed’s pharmacy network includes more than 50% of the retail pharmacies in the United States.

On Thursday, the company’s stock increased 68.75 cents a share in Nasdaq trading, closing at $4.81 per share.
