WORLD IN BRIEF : SOMALIA : Pentagon Seeks Extra Peacekeeping Funds

The U.S. Defense Department wants Congress to provide an additional $300 million to pay for U.S. peacekeeping operations in Somalia through next March, when U.S. forces are due to leave, a senior defense official said. The money is above and beyond the $261-billion 1994 defense budget signed by President Clinton.
